Splice Cast has over thirty years of experience and insight into the fascinating science of precision plastic injection moulding. Recently Splice Cast was approached by a pharmaceutical company who wanted to develop a bespoke plastic medical part; Splice Cast's speciality. The customer focussed on costs, regulatory and IP issues, timescales and co-ordination. After several in-depth discussions to finalise the design brief, MD Duncan Morren summed up the meeting; OK, so it must be stackable, fit into this carton, you need it graduated and it must comply to the CE-Mark and the BS Specification. Has someone checked out all the patent and IP issues on this? And the regulatory requirements all covered? Would you like us to put that to our own regulatory team for final checking? Material? Medical Grade polypropylene. Excellent; so by combining all those features into one product, we replace three products with one. That will put you ahead of the game, should give you some bluewater and decent margins at last. But the launch date is set in stone so it has to be right and on-time.

Drawings, Prototypes, tooling and manufacture followed in rapid succession; There was no scope for anything to be overlooked. Splice Cast drove the development for the customer with each detail dovetailing into the tight schedule. Working closely with the customer, each requirement and deadline was met and by anticipating and planning each step of the development, the customer got his goods on-time and within budget.
